Wood Badge/Cedar Badge

So October of 2011 roles around and Jon gets a call from Dan Marley, who was the Course Director for Family Camp Wood Badge of 2012.  Jon and I were on staff in 2011 and felt like we needed to take a break from Wood Badge but Dan melted his heart and we were recruited to be on Dan's staff.  Jon was a troop guide over the Bears and I was a Scribe.  It definitely still was an amazing experience.  A lot of work but so worth it every time!

Jon's Bears.  They were a perfect fit for each other.  They had so much fun together.

At one of our staff development meetings Jon really wanted to try and earn the Broken Match pin.  You have to create fire using two methods without matches or other aids like lighter fluid.  Here they are making nests to make a fire with.

The bow method is so hard.  I tried once before and wore myself right out, sliced my finger and still didn't earn it.  Jon tried so hard and got so close a few times, but to no avail...no fire.  :(  I'm sure he'll try again someday.

Caleb went to Cedar Badge while we were doing Wood Badge, which worked out so nicely.  He got to work the system a little due to some issues that we were having and was able to go up a group and be with Varsity.  He was 13 and was with the 14-16  year olds.  He loved it!!
